Another year passed, very quickly, for the Bella Acapella chorus, the only Barbershop chorus in Portugal with 32 members of 11 nationalities !

The ASB ride which took place on Wednesday 15th November, was preceded by a game of 'conkers'. After several rounds of the knockout competition there were two unbeaten players - Tim Holmes and Huw Chivers.

Cinderella! The name alone brings back memories of a dozen diverse Cinderellas. It is a story that can be told in a thousand different ways. The tale goes back to Grecian mythology and has become part of our own mythical English world.

There was an excellent turn out for the Algarve Senior Bikers October ride, which was organised and led on this occasion by Philippe Payen and Andrew Chilton, with the assistance of Dave Loewy and Stan Green.

In the beginning of October an international group of six experienced riders from the Algarve Senior Bikers (ASB) set out to explore the Douro and Paiva river valleys in northern Portugal.

September's meeting place was São Bras de Alportel. It was a good turn-out with 30 riders, including a few new members taking part. Riders formed into two groups making the ride more manageable, enjoyable and safe.

Everything began 15 years ago, in 2008, with a woman’s dream : create from scratch a Barbershop chorus, here in Algarve, where nobody knew what it was about. What ? Singing with the barbers, in their shops?!??!

I was delighted to attend the Eastern Algarve Summer lunch for the Portugal Branch of the Royal British Legion.  It was held at Restaurante Nora Velha in Tavira and they did us proud with a lovely selection of tapas accompanied by two superb wines.  It was great to see several new faces - now targets to become our newest recruits - and of course our lovely regular attendees, some of whom travelled quite a way to attend the event.
