A group of 3 friends were rescued from the water at Praia da Rocha yesterday afternoon, after they struggled to swim back to shore.
The alert was given at 1:58 pm on Sunday 30th March, by locals who were in the area. Members of the Portimão Maritime Police, the Ferragudo lifeguard station, the Portimão Fire Department and INEM were called to the scene.
According to the National Maritime Authority (AMN), one of the victims was in difficulty in the water, and two friends who accompanied her went to her aid, ending up also needing help.
The three were rescued by the Portimão Fire Department's beach surveillance team and treated on site until the arrival of INEM. One of the victims was taken to hospital.
