URGENT: Can you help, with therapy sessions, using a pony, for disabled children and adults with Cerebral Palsy? If you are sound in your walking, and willing to help, why not come along to the sessions at Pinetrees Riding, Almancil?

Sessions re-start October 2nd, on Fridays. Volunteers should arrive at 10.00 to prepare and warm up ponies and briefing. There is a 30-minute session for the adult group. At the same time, a physio and an occupational therapist work with 2 ponies giving one-to-one 20-minute therapy sessions for up to 8 small children. This form of therapy is quite unique and cannot be reproduced any other way other than through the horse and his movement. It may help to rehabilitate these youngsters and assist their progress in life.

Many thanks have to go to the Helping Hands group from São Brás who kindly support financially the project. However, it also needs enough volunteers to make it work.

You would be leading a pony, if you have those skills, or side walking and assisting the little person on the pony’s back. You will be rewarded with smiles of delight from the riders who look forward to their Friday fun day, out of the classroom and into a natural environment!

If you would like to join in please contact co-ordinator Sue on 918 831 551 (WhatsApp).
