You can feel the season turning. August still brings 28 degrees at three, but by midnight it drops to 17, and café-goers reach for sleeves. It is the first real sign that summer is fading.
The Algarve responds with a final burst. Lagoa opens FATACIL on Friday for ten nights of livestock, crafts and concerts. East of Tavira, a village lights up for three free nights of accordion music and grilled meat. Out west, an early-music festival moves quietly between churches. Here is the week.
